Forward Motion for Writers

I have been trying to write a story for years now. My problem is I don't have the luxury of being able to concentrate only on writing. I am constantly pulled away from the story, often when I am right in the middle of my ideas actually easily flowing out of my brain an into the computer(does not happen as easily nor as often as I would like). I sometimes get pulled away for months at a time and have difficulty getting back on track when this happens. I also have no imput. I have no one to critique what I have already written and I am unsure if I should even continue with what I have started. My daughter suggested I search the internet for help with this and that is what I did and so here I am. Have I made the righ move in takinig this step?
