Forward Motion for Writers

About myself and what I like to write: I am an older person, I grew up reading science fiction, Norton, Nourse, Clarke, Heinlein, Asimov, Silverberg, many others. I read fantasy also, mostly Burroughs but also Tolkien of course, Howard, some Lovecraft. I managed to avoid many of the "classic, must read" books of high school. I spent some time in the Navy, and have done technical-type work, engineering, programming, IT. Which should strongly indicate what what I feel most comfortable writing.

I think my biggest weakness in writing is character development and building a story with fully developed characters from a plot outline. I'd even be open to collaboration on that part.

And this looks like a really well done forum.
