Sunday’s been a day of rest, quite literally, for me.
Yay for rest (if needed)!
Pretty quickly, I realized it wouldn’t be very possible to draw out the city to the scale I wanted, so I decided to do an overview map of all the districts. this went pretty well.
I liked what you posted on Instagram! Very cool! It’s inspired me to rough out a regional map (no real boundaries, roads, or the like) for the world I’m using for my NaNo project.
Watched an episode of Columbo.
Is this the old show with Peter Falk, or did they do a reboot? I remember watching this as a kid!
Did some more troubleshooting on the issue I’m having with Scapple not working properly, and nothing proved to be a good fix.
Hugs! It sucks when tech doesn’t work right, and is frustrating when then it seems to start working but you don’t know why!
Good work on the Elindu/Jodalur worldbuilding, checking with Varick about the table, doing dishes, chatting with Glassquill, and working on plot points!
November 11, 2019 at 2:29 pm in reply to: Ashe's Goals for 10 November 2019 – 16 November 2019 #302410I hope y’all are doing well and that nothing too bad is happening to keep y’all offline.
It’s a mix of being busy with NaNoWriMo and feeling … a bit of ennui, I guess, since it feels like we’re only ever at 1 to 1-1/2 people on this goals board, which feels to me like it doesn’t really accomplish the goal of cheering each other on. I don’t think I’ll get goals posted this week, but I will try to cheer!
Yay for posting goals, and good luck with them all!
And congratulations again on the engagement! Best wishes for you both!
Sunday:
Stayed inside out of the pouring rain, doing no errands, and asking Kevin to take CG to a birthday party in the afternoon.
Which means —
Monday:
Spent a good chunk of the day doing errands: deposited a check, dropped off a shirt at the dry cleaner, got groceries, filled the car with gas.
Hung out on the NaNo forums again (I’m really going to have to cut back on that during November!)
Made chicken enchiladas for dinner.
Did my Inktober drawing both days.
October 28, 2019 at 6:08 am in reply to: Ashe's Goals for 29 September 2019 – 5 October 2019 #302293Yay for a great week! Volunteering, outlining, socializing, crocheting (not knitting, right?), time with Tess, progress on clothes, and scheduling time to quilt with Katie — that’s a lot done!
Yay for words written!
October 22, 2019 at 2:31 pm in reply to: Ashe's Goals for 29 September 2019 – 5 October 2019 #302217Hugs on the anxiety for the Sunday game and the possibility of a jab at the VA.
Yay for the writing going well!
Saturday:
Slept in a little, then took a shower.
Talked to T-Bug on the phone while I did Friday and Saturday’s Inktober drawings.
Kev took CG over to the middle school, and then we headed out to the parade. Only watched a short time after her school went by, then we left and drove back to the school to wait for the band’s arrival. (That’s when I caught up on this thread.)
After that, we had a party to go to, a celebration of the daughter of one of Kev’s colleagues being in remission and healthy! Did that, chatted with some people. Impressed one person by quoting Minsc (from Baldur’s Gate).
Caught up on posting my Inktober drawings on Twitter, though I still need to do them on Instagram.
Reheated my not-carbonara for dinner.
Finally got my newsletter out!
Cleared out some e-mail, too. Pretty good day overall.
So I really slipped on updating this week. Playing catch-up now.
Wednesday —
CG band rehearsal before school
SFWA exec call
K home again
CG art club after school
CG Girl ScoutsI did take CG to band. Got home, ate breakfast, then sat at the table for about an hour trying to convince myself to do something. Moved to the couch, collapsed, and fell asleep until after 11:30.
Exec call was moved to Thursday. Spent afternoon catching up on SFWA boards and playing on NaNo forums.
CG’s art club and Girl Scouts went normally.
Lots of rain, so good thing she gets the bus after art club.
Did Inktober drawing.
Thursday —
CG strings rehearsal before school
SFWA ops call
CG chorus after school?
CG evening football game chorus/bandRain done, but very windy day.
Got CG to orchestra rehearsal, took trash out, paid bills, started work on newsletter, did SFWA Exec call, picked CG up from school, and did SFWA ops call. Plus chatting on Slack, managing e-mail, and possibly too much time on NaNo boards.
Evening, took CG to the stadium early, stood around holding her trumpet for like 45–50 minutes while the previous football game finished and the joint chorus (both schools) went out to do the national anthem, handed her her trumpet, then hung out in the stands while the band played throughout the game.
Did Inktober drawing.
Friday —
CG no band rehearsal in morning
K has whiskey tasting in eveningAfter getting CG off to the morning bus, I took a nap. Then Mom and I went to Easton Library, B&N, and Walgreens. Little time at home poking at my still-not-sent newsletter, then took CG to a school dance. Made dinner for me and Mom (Kev was at tge whiskey tasting).
Didn’t do Inktober drawing.
October 17, 2019 at 8:15 pm in reply to: Ashe's Goals for 29 September 2019 – 5 October 2019 #302028Hugs on the depression and irritability. I hope the dose change helps.
Fingers crossed on the resume!
Tuesday:
CG did not have orchestra before school today — yesterday’s holiday meant today was jazz band instead. However, that did mean she got to do chorus practice today.
Kev left for DC, got there by noon, and is being treated very nicely with a two-room suite and dinner out at a fancy restaurant that’s like $100 a head.
Dental cleaning was a little odd. No hygienist. Instead, the dentist cleaned my teeth with what felt like a miniature Dremel. Got bitewings, too. Have a small cavity that needs a filling, so going back next Monday for that.
Then … well, I forgot that the school district is doing American Education Week this week, and today was parents’ day to visit 6th graders. So I went to CG’s science and math classes, came home while she had lunch, then went back in the afternoon for music, social studies, and gym. After that, sat in my car for half an hour and read while she did activity period (parents were not allowed to attend homeroom, lunch, or activity period), and then brought her home.
Poked at a SFWA thing, then took her back to school at 5:30 for the bus to tonight’s parade. Now just waiting for news that they’re back — but parade started at 7, with an estimated end time of 9, so not yet.
Going to go work on my Inktober drawing while I wait.
Monday:
CG was home.
Me, I ran errands. First, took Mom to Walmart for one of her prescriptions, stopped at Home Depot for some straw and bulbs, went to the dry cleaners to pick up Kev’s jackets, swung by the corner store to check out plants, then dropped Mom off at home.
After that, I went to the pet food store, then got groceries.
Ordered a new planner online, since my current one is full for weekly spans.
Encouraged CG to send e-mail to her band and chorus teachers, since she’s supposed to do something for both at a football game on Thursday, and I figure it helps if she knows ahead of time how to spkit her time and attention.
Hamburgers for dinner.
Did my Inktober drawing.
Wrote one SFWA post after taking off pretty much the entire three-day weekend from it.
Should sleep now. Gotta be awake to drive to the dentist tomorrow.
Sunday:
Kevin picked CG up from Girl Scout camp.
I “hemmed” CG’s band pants (they have snaps on the inside to make the length adjustable) and gathered all her uniform pieces.
Kevin dropped CG at school to take the band bus to the parade. Then Kev and I did the weekly chat with T-Bug before we headed out to watch the parade.
Dinner was chicken Caesar salad.
Did my Inktober drawing, but I’m a few days behind on posting.
Friday:
Stayed up after CG and Kev left.
Baked blueberry scones and pumpkin scones.
Cleaned up the kitchen.
Did laundry.
Boxed up some items for T-Bug (including some scones) and sent them off at the post office.
Spent entirely too much time and energy on a SFWA-related matter where I would have been better off keeping my mouth shut. Was really tempted to just log off the computer much earlier and go downstairs to play Diablo III. Running around killing things mindlessly would’ve been cathartic, but I didn’t, and now I won’t get the chance. Ah, well.
Going to go make dinner now (roasted chicken breasts, steamed broccoli, maybe some leftover mashed potatoes if we have them) and then do my Inktober sketch.
