Interesting. :lets plot bunnies out of their cages: Oops.
Don’t know if anyone is still following this thread, but I thought I’d give you an update. After so much frustration, I took matters into my own hands and did some serious research…and discovered trigmenial neuralgia, an inflammation of the nerve that supplies sensation to the face. Usually only affects one side, and typically doesn’t have eye pain as the only symptom. But here’s where it gets interesting. I mentioned my “eye migraines” that made me feel like I was punched in the face. It fit! It was only on the left side. And the episodes would come and go!
My case is not the typical case. My neurologist has diagnosed me with it and I’m now on *the* medication for TN, tegretol. And…I am almost completely pain free!
It is a miracle.
(I still have bad days here and there, and we’re upping my dose a bit but…not being in constant pain is wonderful. I am now living my life instead of stressing and coping with daily pain.)
Thought you guys would like to know.
Welcome back!
Magic Seeker, hugs to you and your brother. I never knew you could get arthritis in your eyes.
Marfisk, yes. Words to live by. “Don’t make it worse, and it’s the long haul that matters.”
Thank you both.
Thanks, Marfisk. I try to be easy on myself, but it’s so hard b/c I’m so driven. Must remember that.
We’ve ruled out migraines as a cause. I do suffer from migraines as well and I thought of that. Also the eye pain causes a special kind of migraine that is extremely hard to get rid of. It comes from whatever’s causing the eye pain. Feels like someone punched me in the face. I call them “eye migraines.”
Wow, that’s pretty neat. :flees from the plotbunnies:
I am so sorry for your loss. I agree about the dedication.
I’m sorry to hear that, David, but taking care of yourself is important. I’m very glad you’ll still be writing, though.
Thanks Mar for the tips!
That’s a great idea, Mar!
I work at a desk in my day job, and then I’m sitting all evening writing or doing writing-related things. I *know* I need to move around more, get exercise. Starting to have back issues. I’d love a treadmill desk, but I have no room or money for it. I might start doing the box method for a standing desk at some point.
I’m participating in Camp Nano only. Goal is 30k on Grave Touched.
May 13, 2014 at 11:02 pm in reply to: Why I’m writing a novel with a chronically ill heroine #230483David, this is awesome! I have fibromyalgia and intractable vertigo, and I struggle with it daily. It would be great to see ME portrayed in a novel. I agree that we need more of that. I really haven’t considered writing a protagonist with fibro, but I did write a poetry chapbook. Hmm. Must ponder this.
Can’t wait to read your novel!
I cannot stand the You’re/Your thing. Drives me crazy.
I’ve noticed myself doing it more often now. I’m turning 38 in March (yikes!) and have been typing since I was 7. Might be an age thing; might be something you just weren’t aware of doing before.
