This is a story I would read, Ashe!

Destiny, riding hard on the winds of change, overshot her target.

Mist hung from the streetlamps in Beldame Wynd as though scared to stray from the light.

Funny you say that, Ash. I thought it sounded like the good beginning for a super-natural sleuth type story, like the Dresden Files or Iron Druid books. I imagined someone with a silver topped cane, a bit of a dandy, who is about to whoop some butt with his cane!

Technically two sentences I suppose so a bit of a cheat;

The razor sharp knife sliced through the still morning air like… Well, like a knife really.

How exciting! I’ll have to make sure I write now ^.^

As surprises go, a pit full of plague victims isn’t the best.

Nobody saw the crow fall or heard it’s despondant cry as the wind and the rain hurled it towards the ground, beaten, bruised and broken.

He seemed to have developed an immunity to death, it simply wouldn’t stick.

Two more years later and I still struggle with action scenes. I’m a bit better at them and use what you suggested. I try to make the sentences like a drumbeat build to a crescendo and then slow it down again. I am still terrible at action scenes though so if there are any other suggestions…

It’s utter madness. I’m not a particular fan of Salman Rushdie, but I’m a fan of being alive and I’m glad he survived to hopefully write some more. If we all killed those we disagreed with, there’d be nobody left to read our stories!

50,151 Words as of 29/11, so goal completed. Now I just have to figure out how to make a good story out of it!

Ralf stretched lazily in the noonday sun, turning his head to enjoy the gentle caress of grass on his cheek and narrowly avoided the crossbow bolt that slapped into the ground a hairsbreadth from the tip of his nose.

That actually is the perfect opening line. Very nice.

10k on day 3. Today is day 4, so hopefully will get at least 13k before the working week begins.
