Here’s something fun. This personality quiz popped up on my Twitter feed, and I thought I’d share it here.
I did the quiz twice. First, I entered “male” in the first question and ended up as Gandalf. The second time, because I was curious who his female counterpart was, I entered “female” for the first question and answered the remainder of the questions the same way (it’s a very short quiz), and ended up as Galadriel.

I think the “strong woman and you know what you want” parts fit you quite well, Jam. You’re caring for your ill mother, and that takes a lot of strength. Also, in your writing career, you know what you want–and you go after it, another sign of strength.
And, as a writer, you are a visionary, and you have grand ideas for what you want to write and how you want your writing career to go (as in, what you can do to make it the career you want to have).

Okay, so answering the questions as a male (why should I answer them any other way?), I’m Dirk Pitt. Hero of novels by Clive Cussler.
Alrighty, then–never read them, but the Cussler name is certainly a familiar one to me. Apparently there’s a whole series of novels about this Dirk Pitt character. Guess I’ll have to check them out.
Ordinarily it wouldn’t have occurred to me to answer the same questions whilst registering myself as a female, but what the heck, I’ll enter into the spirit of this game.
So as a female I am Galadriel.
Mmmmmkay… I certainly admire her character in LOTR so I reckon I will admire this Dirk Pitt character when I encounter him.
Guess I have some reading to do.
Is Cussler contemporary? I’m thinking he’s a 20th century writer…
Cussler’s been publishing since 1973. His latest, Havana Storm, was released last year.

I think I just had Cussler’s Raise the Titanic mixed up with Walter Lord’s A Night to Remember in my head, the latter having been published in the early 1950s.
EDIT: I wonder if Walter Lord was any relation to Jon Lord. the great keyboard player?
Or maybe I just picked up one of his (Clive Cussler’s) books at some point, saw an early 1970s copyright (1975 was 40 years ago, you know, though it doesn’t seem like it) and assumed he was dead.
Anyway, I’ll definitely be checking out his work.
