Still Active?

I haven’t been on FM in awhile, but just began work on the first novel of a series. Is the site still active? Anyone still around? Best wishes to all.

We mostly hang out on a free chat server called Discord, which has both a browser and downloadable app versions for computer and phone. If you want to join us for live chat, come to this link: https://discord.gg/KkbvxXpP8Y

Once you’ve landed in the Introductions channel (Under Helpful Stuff), visit the Please-Read-Fist channel and then go to the Roles-Choose channel to choose your role. Once you’ve done that, you’ll be able to visit the entire FM server, and can join us anytime in the Writing-Pad channel (under House of Creativity) for live chat. Otherwise, there’s only a very limited amount of activity here on the actual website.

Thanks for your response. That’s a shame as I used to enjoy the website and the forums. I’ve never had a good experience with Discord so I probably won’t be joining but I appreciate the information. Thanks again.

I haven’t been on FM for a long time, but I’m getting back in creative writing now that I am semi-retired. I’m sorry to see that FM has been vacant for so long. After all the horrible stuff on the Nanowrimo forums, I came back over here to see what’s happening. With both Nanowrimo and FM, I was pleased to have a virtual community.

I went over to look at Discord and have not been impressed so far. Plus for some reason, I can not ‘claim my account’ when I changed over from FM. Does this mean I have to sign in with a new account on Discord?

I’ll talk to Jam about the Server issue you’re having. She’s the one who runs the Discord server, and can probably help you better. I’m not as knowledgeable as she is and don’t want to mess anything up for you.

The account logins for the FM website and Discord are completely separate. There is no database sharing between the two. Which means you would need to make a separate Discord account to join any chat servers.

It took a little time for me to get used to Discord, as well. I hope you consider signing in and just hanging out with us if you feel like it.

As for your old FM account, if you mean the old old OLD forum using the software Holly Lisle first set up, then those accounts (and content) are unfortunately gone. It was n old software with no more support or development, and no way to port over anything to new software. All of us had to create brand new accounts in the new forum. From that point we HAVE been able to port all accounts to whatever changes we have made. I just looked for your email address and it looks like you didn’t have an account under that email in the new forums.

If you used a different email address or user name back then, please let me know and I can look. Otherwise it’s a matter of creating and using a new account.
