Hi! I was a longtime member on the old site but just got around to joining the new one this weekend.
I was looking for the two-month challenges, because I need some motivation and deadlines. But they don’t seem to be used much. Is there a March/April thread or do I just start a thread for myself in whichever section I’m doing?
(Or do we skip March and do April/May…I can’t remember.)

I’m ok with doing that but the deadlines feel more real if other people are watching.
March 2, 2014 at 10:20 pm #228262March is a break month. It’s two months, break, two months, etc.
And yes, you just start your own thread, but subscribe to the forum and you’ll be notified in email whenever anyone posts to any threads. At least that’s what I try to do.

Since the entire list was up, I figured people could join in as they liked. But officially the way they run is:
January – February
March off
April – May
June off
July-August
September off
October-November
December offAre there many people still interested?
March 3, 2014 at 2:27 am #228263Sounds good! I’ll be back in April. Hopefully there will be enough of us interested that I’ll feel like I have to meet the deadline.
March 3, 2014 at 8:42 am #228264As a way to keep myself motivated and moving in the right direction, I’m interested!

I am planning on participating in the word count challenge in April/May, and if it works out for me, maybe some more later.
March 4, 2014 at 8:06 pm #228346I lived by the challenges for years, then I just stopped. I’m trying to get back to them, because that end of month push is VERY productive even if I flop through most of the period :p.
Case in point, I added the worldbuilding challenge because I’d succeeded in the other two. Then I promptly forgot about it. Last day of February, I did over 2k just to finish it.

https://margaretmcgaffeyfisk.com/the-steamship-chronicles/March 6, 2014 at 12:40 pm #228250To be honest, I rarely did these challenges when I was (sort of) active on the site. But when I was trying to think of ways to ramp up my writing speed, they were the first thing I thought of.
I’m going to create my April-May threads now so I’m committed.
March 10, 2014 at 8:03 am #228265I’m dreadfully behind in email, so didn’t see this post, but I think you can see from the responses that people are interested . I have not been as productive as I was when I was doing the challenges every period. I’ll admit there were extenuating circumstances, but to pull myself back out of the muck, they seemed a good method.
