Hi! I’m a 32 year old woman living in New Orleans (recently relocated from NYC) and I’m looking for writing buddies.

I’m actually writing/finishing a second book this month in an attempt to stick to a rigorous year of writing goals. For example I have two more days for 13K words to hit December’s milestone.

A smattering of favorite fiction writers are Hemingway, Poppy Z. Brite-era Billy Martin, Francesca Lia Block, Heidi Julavits, and Michael Chabon. Though, honestly, I have not been reading enough fiction lately, because I was finishing my master’s in a urban policy. I have been on the hunt for YA books aimed at young woman that is NOT about zombies or vampires or princesses. When I was growing up, it was all about Sweet Valley High and Nancy Drew (the YA version, not the super old school version).

Outside of writing, I am a crazy Knicks fan and love my fantasy basketball league.

That’s more information than I would put in an online dating profile.

Hi! I’m new here, too. Maybe when I finish writing my YA adventure novel, you can read that! ;)

Welcome to Forward Motion! You will find all sorts of writers here at all levels of their writing craft. Several of us also write YA (like my “String Weaver” and “Salmon Run” series).

Good to see you have writing goals. In January I’ll be giving a “Writing Career Business Plan” workshop that you may be interested in (all classes and workshops here are free). This site can help you with that in the form of challenges, dares, and other events. We actively egg each other on in chat, too. :D Take a look around and ask if you are looking for a certain type of goal-help. Who knows, we might have one!

Welcome to the site! That’s a big move you made leaving NYC. How do you like New Orleans?

Hey, have you tried reading the Hunger Games? There are no zombies in the story but there is plenty of killing.

Have a look around the site. If you have any questions, please ask. Be sure to also check out chat.
