Late last night (Nov 5), the new chat room was opened. When you click on the Chat Room Link at the top of the page, it’ll take you to a page to enter it. If you haven’t already created a new login, you’ll have to do so, and it’s suggested you use the same one you have for the main site’s boards so it’ll be easier to integrate your identiy in chat when they combine it more closely with the site.
As of 1:00a.m. Mountain time in the US, the old chat was still occupied and accessible by typing the old site’s address in the address bar. For those who don’t remember, it’s http://www.fmwriters.com

November 6, 2012 at 3:06 pm #208399We found during testing that Private Messaging works best when initiated from the Who’s Chatting tab.
Also, logout seems to log you out from all of chat, not just the window you’re chatting in.
It will appear to log you out of the forum, but that isn’t true. When you login to chat, it opens a new tab or window, and when you logout, it returns you to the forum, but it’s a forum page in the new tab, which you haven’t logged into. I set it up this way so you could be in the forum and chat at the same time. Since they are separate logins (at this point), chat can’t log you out of the forum, but it will look like has.
That’s all the quirks I can think of at this time.
One more thing. It’s not really a quirk, but the private message part of chat is a pop-up window. If you don’t allow pop-ups in your browser settings, it won’t work. I know in Firefox, you can all pop-ups on specific sites. I’m sure other browsers work similarly.
November 6, 2012 at 10:26 pm #208400I registered for the new chat room. It wouldn’t let me use Lin Sp, because of the space. So, I registered LinSp. But when I try to log in, it creates the space and tells me the username or password is incorrect. I did check the saved login on my browser and it’s LinSp without the space, so I don’t think this is a browser issue. Help, please.
November 6, 2012 at 10:52 pm #208414How do we register?
November 6, 2012 at 10:58 pm #208428Linda, I can confirm chat has you registered as LinSp. I’ve seen the username or password message before — usually before I’ve logged in. I’m not sure where that’s coming from, but if the information is in the fields, I’ve been able to hit Login, and it’s worked. If that’s not working for you, try doing a password reset, maybe?
November 6, 2012 at 11:04 pm #208432Do you mean, how do you find the login page (because, once you’re on the blue login page, there’s a small link below the login button named “Register.”
To get to that page, click on the “Chat Room Link” text at the top of this page. On my screen, it’s right under the “for” in Forward Motion for Writers. Once there, you’ll see a linked area toward the middle of the page. On the left side is Chat Room List. There’s a /, followed by Who is Chatting. Click on “Chat Room List.” That will take you to the Login page. Once on that page, click “Register” and fill out the information requested.
November 6, 2012 at 11:05 pm #208433Sorry Jschara, I had to click one more page in and click on Register instead of sign in. Face Palm!
November 6, 2012 at 11:22 pm #208437Glad you found it.
November 9, 2012 at 3:27 pm #208429Have you gotten in okay?
