Okay, here’s a sort of interesting concept. What things really bug you about writing, the publishing world, books in general, but is a concept that you’re considering using anyway?
For instance, one of my very pet peeves about the writing/publishing world is the propensity for the first book in a series to then entitle the series itself.
For instance, Mercedes Lackey titled the first book she ever got pubbed Arrows of the Queen, which then became the series title of the trilogy that book began (the Arrows of the Queen Trilogy).
Yet, I’ve got this new project I’ve been slowly working on for the past couple weeks. All I have for any sort of title for it is Incarnadine and Shadow. I’m not sure if this is the series title (it’s the first in a planned trilogy–which might spawn more books), or the title of the first book. So I’ve been toying with the idea of making it both.
And, normally, I see titles like this as Series Title Book 1: I Was Too Lazy To Come Up With A Different Title For The Book.
I think I begin to understand how some authors get trapped into this concept of naming the series after the first book in it they publish. LOL

I can’t think of anything I really dislike except waiting for royalty statements (which were generally wrong), but now that I’ve escaped Trad Pub, it’s not a problem. I love Amazon and Createspace!

Do it through Author Central. They listen better. To see if you have one, go to the first book in the series and look under the cover on the left. It should be there. For an example, here’s Shafter: https://www.amazon.com/Shafter-Science-Fiction-Adventure-Seeds-ebook/dp/B00HEAI7JU/
Look under the cover and you’ll see where the series page is.

I did the first book-series title thing b/c it made sense. The books are about the Fey Touched, and that was book 1, and I really don’t regret doing it. I think it just depends on different factors.
May 4, 2017 at 4:13 am #254786Hugs. Erin Hartshorn did as well. From what I hear, it’s not that they won’t do it, but they won’t do it automatically, so if you bug them through Author Central, maybe they can help?
