Might as well introduce myself. My name is Amy Keeley. I write mostly fantasy, though I’ve also been trying out paranormal romance (indie published) and science fiction (not yet published).
I’m here because I miss talking with writers. I was formerly part of the Hatrack Writer’s Workshop where I met some wonderful writers who invited me to join Liberty Hall where I learned an awful lot about writing through creating and letting others read my creations. I ended up leaving writing altogether for five years to take care of my family, though I kept trying to delude myself into thinking I could get back into it as if I’d never left.
I got into indie publishing after reading The Naked Truth of Book Publishing, which came out just at the beginning of the changes in publishing and focused on presenting options to writers. When I saw that I might not even get good editing if I sent it to a publisher (by then my only reason for submitting), I decided it would be better to try doing this on my own. Thanks to Holly Lisle’s HTTS course and Think Like a Publisher by Dean Wesley Smith, I was able to find enough confidence to try it.
I currently have three full novels published: two contemporary romances [edit: ugh. They’re contemporary fantasies/sweet paranormal romances. I smooshed them in my head and wrote the wrong genre. Sorry.] and one somewhat epic fantasy that’s part of a larger series. I have a few short stories out, as well. I plan on releasing a couple more novels this year, but with a newborn baby, I’m not sure if that’s in the cards. My main plan is to put my e-books into print form, improve my craft, and get to know more writers. If I can manage that, I’ll be happy.
Author of a romance between Loki and Sigyn, a dragon shapeshifter series, and a romantic fantasy with forbidden magic and a mysterious minstrel. (More at amykeeley.wordpress.com)
Also writes space opera/sociological science fiction under the name Z.A. Waterstone. (zawaterstone.wordpress.com)

January 27, 2015 at 9:41 pm #237857Hello Keeley! Dean’s posts are great to follow. Also keep an eye on his wife Kris Rusch and The Passive Voice. I’ve taken a few of Holly’s courses and have learned things from her. I love to learn.
Congrats on what you’ve published! Here at Forward Motion we have people who are following pretty much all paths. I see that you’ve already found the Indie board.
Let us know if you have any questions! We love discussing writing.
