Another oldie, lol. I joined in 2003 though I’ve not been very active on the forums those last years.
I write mostly historical fiction about the Romans in Germania and Britannia, but I also have that Tentacled Monster of Doom, a historical Fantasy …. well, monster. And the Roman novels aren’t behaving, either; at least one is busy turning duology on me.

October 15, 2012 at 6:23 pm #206519There would probably fewer trilogies and multi-volume series if they did behave. But since I like to read trilogies and multi-volume series, I don’t mind that much.
Though epic historical fiction with Romans is a bit rare. Romans are popular, but it’s usual the series type: book 1 – Hero has adventure A, book 2 – Hero has adventure B, and so on. Not casts of thousands and as many MCs as GRR Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire.
But well, Arminius wanted to be a MC and then I had to give Varus and Germanicus larger roles, too, to maintain the balance, and that brought Segestes and Tiberius in …. and so, instead of a fictive MC and a fictive antag, plus another fictive character that Also Played a Role, and a bit of a love interest, I now have 10-12 Impotant Characters, and that’s only for A Land Unconquered. Eagle of the Sea doesn’t look much better judging from the scenes I already have written.
And don’t even get me started about the Fantasy Monster. :woohoo:
