If anyone is interested, there’s a flashathon coming up on October 27. From I understand, some of the prompts come from authors that were at Capclave in Maryland earlier this month.

October 24, 2012 at 1:15 pm #207483Been seeing some traffic from this post, so I thought I’d see what was going on. Thanks to Linda for advertising the event over here. I just wanted to come in and personally invite anyone who wants to come along to participate for as many or as few hours as you have available. We’ll be going all day and into the night, but that doesn’t mean you have to join in for the whole event.
Quote:If this were at any time except the Saturday before NaNo, I’d probably leap in!I normally try to do it a weekend earlier just so it doesn’t abut Nano. One of the ideas is for it to be a rev up of the mental juices before Nanowrimo without depleting them completely. I will say some of last year’s participants chose to ignore the prompts (which is fully allowed) and used the various hours to outline, world build, or character sketch their Nano projects. The only thing I don’t tend to count is “research,” but I also can’t come over to everyone’s houses and demand to see what they’ve done. If you feel you’ve been productive about writing in that hour, especially in a way you wouldn’t otherwise be, then I’d call you a participant in that hour.
So come on over. There’s times where you’ll love it, there’s times that you’ll hate yourself and wonder why you’re doing it, but hey…that’s writing.
October 24, 2012 at 8:21 pm #207615If I am around, I might drop by. Unfortunately, we had slated the weekend before NaNo as a ‘get away from the computer for a few hours’ day, especially given the madness of the last month. If we don’t end up doing something, I’ll try to take part, at least for a couple rounds.
