This is a little off topic, but I wanted to post it.

For anyone in the Northeast who may be in the path of Sandy, Lots of positive thoughts for everyone.

I’m on the southern suggested strike zone (I’m just an hour south of DC by car, about 30 minutes as the bird soars) so we are in storm prep as we speak. If the euro model is right, we’re going to get hammered.

Either way, lots of positive thoughts, and I’ll let everyone know what happens when I have a chance!

Which reminds me I was going to go shopping for a few odds and ends today anyway, so I might as well do next week’s grocery shopping before the panicked crowds hit the stores this weekend.

Hope you and your cats get through this okay. I’m in Massachusetts – at the moment, it’s looking like we’ll just get a nasty storm, but they say that could change…

Yes, I hope all of us on the East Coast ride this out without harm, and all our associated creatures as well.

We’ve already got dark clouds in DC. Given the past history of our power companies, if we get any kind of wind, we’ll have power outages for the next week.

Good luck to everyone out there. Let’s hope it just slips past!

Everyone be careful! I hope it doesn’t hit any of our writers hard.

Russ just got a message that the place where he lived was told at 5PM to evacuate by 7PM. He as on Long Island. Really glad he’s not out there this time!

You’d think they’d have learned something from Irene. :side:

Well, I’m back at the bill paying job. (Guess what? I work for a utility. I don’t get a day off for this storm. *snerk*) Lots of rain in Southern Maryland. Winds are holding steady about 25 mph, with gusts up to 45. Expected worst case for my area – This afternoon…

I’m in “upstate” NY, central really. There is a county state of emergency, along with high wind warning. Our power lines run through our wooded backyard, I’m sure we’ll loose power at some point. We usually do anyways (if not our yard, there are enough trees around here). I think we should be alright flooding wise as we are on high ground in our town. At least everyone is home today, DH’s work closed early and we picked baby up from daycare.

                            Stay safe everyone.

Southern Maryland got away with not getting slammed! Yeah!

Still alive and well. Only lost a simple lattice work on the side of the house. Easy repair. Might need DirecTV to fix our dish.

Had five cats stress eating, so we need more food for them.
                              However, we’re all purrfect. 😆

Everyone in our area of NoVa made it through okay.

A few of my co-workers had issues with water in basements and one tree down but no one has been hurt.

Going to be fun around here for a few days but I think we got off lighter than when the derecho hit in June.

We didn’t get much damage near Washington, DC either — some trees and power lines down, street lights out. Right now, drivers are zooming through the intersection outside thinking, “Hey! I don’t have to stop!” I imagine that if the lights aren’t up soon, the police will have one direction blocked to keep accidents down.

We’ll see how work goes. My cable is still up and down.
