Just wanted to warn all the other writers here about California Times Publishing. They are contacting a lot of writers right now using different techniques. Some by asking for a PDF to review a work, or a hard copy, offering representation, or saying the work needs editing and they can help with that.
That last part is the big clue. They are not wanting to reveal prices or terms until one signs up with them. Uh,yeah, right. Please, don’t fall for this!
All of this reeks of a vanity publisher wanting to sell their overpriced services (to make their money off the author). If you get an email from them, you might want to ignore it.
Here is the email I received:
Quote:I have read the first sample chapter of your book and the writing is
good. Science fiction romances featuring a paranormal main character
do sell. Do you have a hard copy you can mail or email our company? For more information please visit: http://www.californiatimespublishing.com

One of my other writing forums has a watch section with a thread related to this company. Victoria Strauss of Writer Beware reads that forum as well. So might be worth a perusal…
April 22, 2015 at 11:39 pm #239844I received this email and was about to respond that if they wanted a hard copy of my book they could buy it like everyone else does, but, I came to my senses and just deleted the email after adding to my blocked list.
Of course, I checked the site and decided it was just not worth wasting time reading or reporting.
April 25, 2015 at 3:55 am #239845I also received an unsolicited email. I did turn it in to Writer Beware. It’s probably on their lists now.
