My name is Dianna Zaragoza, and I was a regular here in 2007 or 2008. Got a lot of good feedback and enjoyed helping others, so I’m hoping for more of the same.
My Facebook friends are not writers, and my co-workers are not writers, so I am starving for someone to talk to.
I’m in the middle of a personal challenge at the moment, something inspired by my ‘poppa’ Ray Bradbury before he died. He challenged writers to read and write a lot of short stories in order to sharpen their skills.
So my challenge is to write 52 short stories in 1,000 days (about 3 years). His challenge was to write a short story a week for a year, but I’m just not that fast, plus I have a life I can’t (i.e. don’t want to) utterly abandon to write. I’m giving myself a little more time than that. I’m blogging about it here: http://livingbymywit.blogspot.com/2015/05/day-35-excited-for-new-story-and-eb.html
So far (day 36 today) I’ve written three short stories – one horror, one supernatural, and one that’s not so much a short story as it is a prequel of the magnum opus science fiction/romance novel I wrote myself for my 40th birthday present.
I would love to go professional when I’m good enough – but frankly, I’m a complete newbie at the business side of all this. There’s lots to learn. Happy to be back.

You might want to look at the Story a Day challenge. You don’t need to commit to one a day, but just to as many as you have time for. Here’s a link with the rules and idea generators.

Keep in mind that flash fiction can be as short as 500 words.
Happy writing,
Deb Salisbury
