Hi all,

I'm Carrie. Ceige is just a name my sister called me, my initials, c j g squinched together into a word. I've been writing since I've been reading, and I've been doing both as long as I can remember.

I've recently decided to take myself more seriously and see if I can be a better writer. I've been taking classes, letting people read my (much fretted over) words, and generally asking for feedback. I've found that a "there is no sound in this scene, I feel deaf" is so much more helpful than a "this is good" so I've come looking for people who don't love me enough to lie to me.

I've been haunting this site for a few weeks and found it very helpful. I've checked out the chat rooms, read a few articles, and even dipped my toes into critiquing a few posts (though I'm still polishing my new first chapter before posting it for a critique – and I'm about to just make myself post it because polishing may have become procrastinating about six read-throughs ago).

I just love this site! I love the advice about setting goals (my new goal is to edit or write a scene a day – thank you ashe from the chat rooms). I love the advice on grammar. I know I'm overdoing the love-fest here, but I really do love how supportive this site is… it's so nice to finally find people who enjoy writing as much as I do.

I'm excited to be here and looking forward to getting to know all of you!
