There are a lot of places for social interaction on Forward Motion. In time, you'll gravitate to what works best for you. If you're just getting started, though, here are the two primary locations.

Chat is quite popular with many members. There are dedicated writing only rooms, general discussion rooms, and classrooms. On Friday and Sunday evenings, Think Tank meets in Classroom 1. That's a place you can go and offer brainstorming suggestions for other people, and, in turn, if you have a question, the participants will brainstorm it with you. There's a separate login process for FM Chat. You may use your FM username or choose an entirely different handle for chat. Here's the link to the page: http://fmwriters.com/chat.html

Main Discussion Board

If you're looking for general discussion on the forums, the place to check out is the Main Community Discussion Board (located directly under the Newcomers' Board) in the Forums in Community Center Conference.
