Hello FM Community! I am very new to the writing world outside of academia and technical reporting. I am excited to be part of your community and am eager to learn about the variations of nonfiction form and about the publishing market. Also, I look forward to participation in discussions where my area of expertise can be a useful contribution.

Happy writing!
Laurie

Get to the point: Why am I telling this story? And what does it say about life, about the world, about the times we live in?

Thank you for the warm welcome! It is taking some time to master this site, however, I am determined.

Hello Laurie! Welcome to FM!

Publishing has changed so much in the last few years. This is a good place to keep a finger on its pulse. We'll be glad to get your input.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Thank you! I seem to be having difficulties navigating this site. Forum posts keep popping up and disappearing!

I managed Isaac last week and I'd like to post some reflections and narratives about how I and others experienced this slow-moving hurricane. But this site seems to jump around and I've already lost posts; so I'm going to have to figure this out.

Any suggestions?

For general threads, check the links at the top of each page. There's a list of the boards that should be helpful.

What sort of posts have you lost, older posts or your own posts?

For your own posts, you may have forgotten to hit Post Message after previewing your words. At this time, you only have three posts noted. It's very easy to miss the final Post It button.

For older posts, click on User Menu at the center top of the page. Click on "Edit your preference" and change Date Limit to "all available topics". Sometimes that one gets set to too short a time span.

Let us know if that doesn't fix the problem. There are many people more computer savvy than me around.

This may be a browser related problem. Which browser are you using? What do you see when a post pops up? Does it disappear without you doing anything at all?
