Conference System: Getting Into the Chat and Conference System
Preliminaries
When you register for the chat, use your Forward Motion member name. Especially to the new members, as you use the boards and chats more, other members will be able to distinguish who you are. This is especially helpful in chat, and some of the "specialty" boards, like the crit circles.
Most importantly:
PLEASE OBEY ALL THE RULES FOR THE CHAT ROOMS!
Members who are disruptive or who don't follow the site's few rules can be kicked from the chat rooms or banned from the site.
Getting your member account to chat.
When you go to register for your chat account, you will see the screen listed below. (Click image for larger version)
Chat Handle:
Enter the chat handle you would like to use. Although not really a requirement, this should be the same as your Forward Motion membership handle, or logon.
Password:
Enter the password you wish to use.
Re-Enter Password
Enter the password again for confirmation
E-mail Address
Enter a VALID e-mail address. This will be the address that your validation code will be sent to. IF the e-mail address can not be validated, the new account you have just set up WILL BE REMOVED!
Validation of your account
To validate your account, after you receive the email with a validation code, you can go back to the chat to log on. The logon screen appears below:
Enter your username and password you chose, then select the chat room you wish to enter. In most cases, this will be the first selection, Community Chat. The numbers after each room show the number of members already in that room. (Click image below for larger version)
This is the validation which will appear on your first logon attempt.
Enter your username in the Chat Handle box, and enter the validation code you received by e-mail.
The easiest way to enter the validation code is to highlight the code in your email, copy it, then paste it into the Validation Code box.
Upon the successful completion of validating your account, you should see the following screen, announcing your success.
When you follow the "Click here" link you'll head into the chat room. It looks a bit like this ... (Click image for larger version)
