My odd reading list for January

I had not intended this, but I thought I would check out a few of my own books on the Nook -- stuff that I sold years ago. I found out they were not nearly as bad as I expected them to be and decided to read the entire series, much of which I don't remember, at least not in detail. So in January I read the first three of the Dark Staff books:

Aubreyan
Brendan's Song
Crystal and the Stars

Oh, certainly there are things I would do differently now -- but overall, they seem to hold up well.

I also read book 1 of The Great Books Foundation, Readings for Discussion, First Year Course. This had three sections:

Declaration of Independence
Apology and Crito by Plato
Antigone by Sophocles

This has been interesting reading. I've slowly been reading the actual Great Books of the Western World and I've gotten through a few volumes, but taking these little pieces of things is much easier to read and understand. I really enjoy them and I'm on to book 2 in February.

I ended out my odd reading of the Dark Staff series:

Dacey's Dream
Eliora's World
Freedom and Fame
Gathering
A Hope in Hell

In other work:

Book 2 of the Great Books Course, Year 1

Book 9 of the Great Books Course, Year 1

(The first were parts of Aristotle and Plutarch. The second was an overview of liberal education and 'how to read' material, which might better have been read from the start.)

Istanbul and the Civilization of the Ottoman Empire by Bernard Lewis
