Archangel, by Sharon Shinn.

Interesting concept! I like the idea that, in the future, angels inhabit the world and speak directly with the god, Jovah.

I didn't realize until I finished it that Archangel is in the middle of a series.

There were some disappointing places in this book, especially the events written because the author wanted them, not because the story demanded it ("contrived," in other words). And although the story was enjoyable, the plot was pretty predictable.
