I did not like this book. Geez, when will our YA lit class get some books I'll like? I shouldn't complain I suppose. I have some feminist issues with the book, mainly, and also felt that the writing wasn't all that great. The explicit parts were surprising to me, but they didn't bother me. The bigger problem was that it seemed that the point was that girls always need to have a boy at the center of their universe. That irritated me. I did like the internal conflict, though, and it was a nice twist that the guy really wasn't a jerk (I thought he'd end up being one), and that he was actually more mature and self-aware than the girl. Society likes to teach us that girls are more mature than guys, but like all generalizations, I don't think it's fair.

Sorry for the soapbox.
