I thoroughly enjoyed re-reading this. Also was awed by how well he set up things in much later books - no idea if this was just a case of throwing in ideas in the hope they would one day bear fruit, or specific forward planning. Either way, reading it now I'm reasonably familiar with the series I was jaw-droppingly impressed to notice details which I now know set up things that wouldn't come to pass for three books.

On the downside he did misuse the word myriad, just the once, which made me cringe, but being as it's Fforde and the man is a hilariously funny GENIUS, I am forced to forgive him.
