I don't tend to read bios before I decide whether to read a book, but I do like to read them after, to find out a little something about the author. I like humor, but some of them get a bit snarky and come across as the author not having respect for the reader. I really like it when the author says something about why they wrote that particular story, or the genre or issue that grabs them, or otherwise sheds light on what I just read.
